Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Lift Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now secured the prestigious cup on fourteen separate occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to overcome Marseille in the Gulf and capture a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be sailing towards a straightforward win in the match between the French league winners and the Coupe de France holders after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring early on.

Yet, the southern French side struck two times in the closing moments to seize a shock advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood converted from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a vital equaliser in the final moments to force the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the hero, saving crucial kicks from O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all converted successfully for PSG to complete a 4-1 penalty victory.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now lifted this competition for the twelfth time in the past 13 years.
